18X7 wire rope is a common multi-strand steel wire rope, which is twisted by 18 outer strands around 1 center strand, and each outer strand contains 7 steel wires. This structural design takes into account flexibility and strength and is suitable for a variety of working conditions.
Its diameter range is wide, usually ranging from a few millimeters to tens of millimeters. The breaking tension varies according to the diameter and material, and generally can meet the medium and high strength load requirements.
This type of wire rope is widely used in cranes, elevators, mining equipment and other fields. With good fatigue resistance and wear resistance, it can maintain stable performance in complex environments and is a common choice in industrial lifting and traction operations.
Anti-rotation wire rope(Ungalvanized and Galvanized).
A multi-strand wire rope that produces reduced torque or rotation when loaded. Anti-rotation wire ropes differ from standard wire ropes because their counter-rotating lay design reduces the torque on the wire rope. Anti-rotation wire ropes break and wear differently than those of standard construction wire ropes.
1. Rotation-resistant wire ropes have at least 15 outer strands, with three strands "wrap around the core", little or no tendency to rotate, or transmit little or no torque when guided.
2. The outer layer of the anti-rotation wire rope has at least 10 or more strands, and there are more than two layers of strands
"wrap around the core", which has obvious anti-rotation performance.
3. Anti-rotation wire rope has no more than 9 strands in one outer layer, with two layers of strands around the core and limited anti-rotation performance.
When using anti-rotation wire rope, a safety factor of at least 5.0 should be selected.

18X7 steel wire rope:Structural advantages: The design of 18 outer layers around the central strand, combined with the fine arrangement of 7 steel wires per strand, allows the rope to have both high flexibility and structural stability, and can adapt to multi-angle bending operations.
Strength performance: A medium diameter can achieve a high breaking force, which can meet the medium and high strength load requirements and provide reliable load support in lifting, traction and other scenarios.
Good durability: The force distribution between the steel wires is relatively uniform, and the fatigue resistance is strong. In addition, the structure with a large number of strands has a buffering effect on wear, which extends the service life under complex working conditions.
Wide application: It is suitable for the regular operation of fixed equipment such as cranes and elevators, and can also cope with the operation requirements of outdoor complex environments such as mines and ports, with strong versatility.
18X7 steel wire rope has a wide range of application scenarios due to its structural stability and comprehensive performance:
Lifting equipment: commonly used in the lifting mechanism of small and medium-sized cranes and tower cranes. Its moderate strength and flexibility can meet the bending and load-bearing requirements during lifting, ensuring the smooth lifting and lowering of heavy objects.
Elevator system: As a common choice for elevator traction ropes, the multi-strand structure can evenly disperse the weight of the car, and its fatigue resistance is adapted to the high-frequency operation of the elevator to ensure the safety of vertical transportation.
Mines and ports: In mine hoists and small port hoisting equipment, its wear resistance and impact resistance can cope with the rough environment when handling ore and cargo, reducing the loss caused by frequent wear.
Construction and engineering: Suitable for temporary operations such as scaffolding traction and component lifting, taking into account portability and carrying capacity, and adapting to the changing operation requirements of the construction site.
Q1: What is the core difference between 18X7 wire rope and other structures such as 6X19?
A: The core difference lies in the number of strands and flexibility: 18X7 has more strands (18 strands), each strand is thinner (7 strands), is softer overall, and has better bending performance, which is suitable for scenes that require frequent turning or multi-angle operations (such as elevator traction); while 6X19 has fewer strands (6 strands), thicker wires (19 strands), stronger rigidity, and is more suitable for heavy loads and low bending frequency conditions (such as large cranes).
Q3: If a partial wire break occurs during use, must it be replaced immediately?
A: It needs to be judged based on the number and location of broken wires:
If the number of broken wires in a single strand is ≤2, and the distribution is dispersed and there is no concentrated broken wire, it can be temporarily monitored and used;
If the broken wires are concentrated in a certain section (such as more than 5 broken wires within 10 times the rope diameter length), or the entire strand is broken and the rope core is exposed, it must be replaced immediately to avoid the risk of breakage.
Q5: How to extend the service life of 18X7 wire rope?
A: Regular lubrication: Apply special wire rope grease every 3-6 months to reduce friction and rust between wires;
Avoid overload: Strictly control the load within 1/5-1/3 (safety factor) of the rated breaking force;
Avoid sharp angle wear: When in contact with pulleys and drums, ensure that the contact surface is smooth and avoid direct friction between the rope and sharp objects.
Q5: What should be paid attention to during storage?
A: Avoid moisture and exposure: Store in a dry and ventilated place, cover with rainproof cloth after winding to prevent rainwater from seeping in and causing internal rust; Clean and apply anti-rust oil before long-term storage, turn over and check regularly to avoid local compression and deformation.
Q3: How to judge whether the 18X7 wire rope has reached the scrap standard?
A: In addition to broken wires, the rope must be scrapped if the following conditions occur:
The rope diameter is worn or corroded by more than 10% of the original diameter;
The rope body is severely twisted, knotted, or partially plastically deformed;
The outer strands are loose, scattered, or the core is severely damaged (such as grease leakage, core wire breakage).
