DIN 5685C long link chain is a welded round steel chain carefully built according to the German DIN 5685C standard. It plays an important role in material transportation, bundling and fixing in the industrial field. The chain link diameter spans from 2 to 13mm, and the pitch is relatively long, generally 30 to 60mm. This design makes the chain more flexible during operation and is suitable for equipment with high requirements for spatial layout and flexible transmission. The material is made of high-quality alloy steel containing elements such as chromium, nickel, and molybdenum. After quenching and tempering, the chain has good comprehensive mechanical properties. The safety factor is maintained in the range of 4.0 to 6.0 according to different application scenarios, which can effectively resist a certain degree of impact load. There are many surface treatment methods. Hot-dip galvanizing can significantly improve the corrosion resistance in humid and outdoor environments; the black paint coating focuses on enhancing the wear resistance of the chain during indoor material transportation and reducing the friction loss between the chain link and the equipment. It is a reliable connection and transmission component in industrial production.

Long ring design, flexible transmission. Following the DIN 5685C standard, the chain ring is long and flexible in structure, with a pitch of 30-60mm and a tolerance of ±0.3mm. The chain ring diameter tolerance is ±0.15mm. When running on the sprocket, the runout is ≤0.8mm, and the transmission is stable. Gas shielded welding is used for welding, the weld is flat and firm, the strength exceeds the parent material, and desoldering and cold welding are avoided. It can operate stably in high-speed, frequent start-stop transmission, and adapt to complex mechanical movement requirements.
Various treatments to adapt to the environment. The zinc layer thickness of hot-dip galvanizing treatment is ≥70μm, and the salt spray resistance test exceeds 960 hours. It is suitable for humid and salty environments such as ports and ships, effectively preventing the chain from rusting and corrosion, and extending the service life by 4-6 years. The thickness of the black paint coating is 0.15 - 0.25mm, with excellent wear resistance and certain protection. When used in indoor material conveying lines, it can reduce the friction loss between the chain link and the equipment, reduce the number of maintenance times, and improve the operating efficiency of the equipment.
Rich specifications, flexible application. Provide a variety of chain link diameter and pitch combinations to meet different equipment and operation requirements. From 2mm diameter for fine material conveying to 13mm diameter for large load bundling, all can be adapted. It also supports customized special specifications, such as non-standard pitch, special surface treatment, etc., to improve the compatibility with non-standard equipment and provide solutions for diversified industrial scenarios.
Material Conveying. In the electronic component manufacturing workshop, the 3mm diameter DIN 5685C long-link chain drives the micro-carrier to convey precision electronic components. The long-link design allows the chain to flexibly bypass the complex equipment structure. The galvanized surface meets the clean requirements of electronic production and avoids component contamination. It can accurately convey 800-1000 components per hour, and the component positioning error is ≤1mm. In the lightweight plate conveyor line of the building materials production plant, the chain drives the plate steadily to ensure that the plate does not move or damage during the conveying process.
Equipment Bundling. In outdoor power construction, 8mm diameter chains are used to bundle large equipment such as utility poles. The high-strength material can bear the weight of the equipment, and the hot-dip galvanized surface is not easy to rust under wind and sun, ensuring that the bundling is firm and safe. In the transportation of large equipment, the chain is used to fix the equipment. The long link is easy to wrap around and fix on the complex structure of the equipment, and the equipment can be kept stable under bumpy road conditions.
Mechanical transmission. In small woodworking machinery, such as precision engraving machines, the transmission mechanism uses a 5mm diameter chain. The long ring design fits the compact space inside the machine, and the stable transmission ensures the engraving accuracy, making the engraving pattern error ≤0.5mm. In the winding system of textile machinery, the chain drives the yarn winding parts, accurately controls the winding speed, ensures uniform yarn tension, and improves the quality of textiles.
Q1: What is the difference with DIN 5685A short link chain?
A: DIN 5685A short link chain has a short pitch (10-20mm), which is suitable for scenes with compact space and high precision requirements, such as small conveyor belts in food processing workshops. DIN 5685C long link chain has a long pitch (30-60mm) and good flexibility, which is more suitable for equipment that needs flexible transmission and bypasses complex structures, such as micro-carrier conveyor chains in electronic component manufacturing workshops. The two are similar in material and strength, but the long link chain performs better in large spans and flexible transmission requirements.
Q3: How to deal with rusted chains?
A: If the rust is slight, gently polish with sandpaper to remove the rust, and then apply anti-rust oil. For hot-dip galvanized chains, zinc paint needs to be applied after polishing to restore the protective layer. If the rust is severe and the chain ring diameter is worn by more than 5%, a new chain needs to be replaced to avoid affecting the safety and performance of use. In daily use, take protective measures, such as avoiding the chain from contacting corrosive media, to reduce the occurrence of rust.
Q3: What should I do if the chain makes noise during operation?
A: First check whether the chain and sprocket match (pitch error ≤ 0.3mm), whether the chain is short of oil, and add appropriate grease (such as grease with viscosity grade ISO VG 150) in time. Then check whether the chain ring is deformed or embedded with debris, clean up the debris, and correct the slightly deformed chain ring (deformation ≤ 5%). If the noise is still not eliminated, it may be that the sprocket is worn. Check the sprocket tooth shape and replace the sprocket if necessary to ensure smooth and quiet operation of the chain.
