Mining chains are high-strength transmission and lifting chains designed for mining environments. The rated load covers 5-50 tons, the safety factor is ≥5.0, and it can adapt to extreme working conditions of high dust, high humidity, and strong impact underground. Most of its materials are high-strength alloy structural steels such as 23MnNiMoCr54. After overall forging, carburizing and quenching, the tensile strength is ≥1200MPa, and the chain link toughness and wear resistance far exceed ordinary industrial chains. According to the purpose, it can be divided into transmission chains (for scraper conveyors and transfer machines) and lifting chains (for ore lifting and equipment lifting). The surface adopts special anti-corrosion treatment (such as phosphating + spraying), and the salt spray resistance is ≥800 hours. It can work stably in sulfur and water-containing mining environments. It is the core component of material transportation and equipment lifting in mining production.

Super strong impact resistance, suitable for heavy loads: The chain ring adopts a large fillet transition design (fillet radius ≥ 5mm), and the impact toughness αk ≥ 60J/cm² (at low temperature of -20℃), which can withstand frequent impacts of falling ore (such as the scraper conveyor chain withstands more than 1000 material impacts per hour). The breaking load of the 50-ton lifting chain is ≥ 250 tons. When lifting the overweight ore bucket (overload within 10%), no plastic deformation will occur, ensuring safety under emergency conditions.
Wear-resistant and anti-corrosion, environmental tolerance: The surface hardness of the chain ring reaches HRC50-55 (carburized layer depth 1.5-2mm), and the wear resistance is 80% higher than that of ordinary G80 chains. In the scene of friction with ore (such as scraper chain), the service life can reach more than 1000 hours (ordinary chain is only 300 hours). It adopts zinc-nickel alloy plating (thickness ≥10μm) + sealing paint treatment, acid salt spray resistance (pH=3) test ≥500 hours, resists underground acidic water corrosion, and reduces the risk of chain link rust and breakage.
Strengthened structure, suitable equipment: The transmission chain pitch specification is 100-200mm (matching scraper model), the chain link width is 20% wider than the ordinary chain, and the matching clearance with the scraper and connecting ring is ≤0.5mm to avoid chain jamming during operation. The lifting chain is equipped with a special mining connection buckle (breaking strength is consistent with the chain link), which can be quickly connected to the hoist and mining hook, and the installation time is ≤5 minutes, which meets the needs of frequent start and stop of mining equipment.
Long-term stability, special maintenance: design life ≥15,000 hours (transmission chain), under normal maintenance, the number of shutdowns and replacements can be reduced (1-2 replacements per year, ordinary chains require 3-4 times). The chain rings have built-in self-lubricating bearings (transmission chain), which do not require frequent oiling and can still rotate flexibly in dusty environments. The maintenance cost is 30% lower than that of ordinary industrial chains.
Underground material transportation: In underground tunnels of coal mines or metal mines, the drive chain (pitch 180mm) of the scraper conveyor drags the scraper to transport raw coal and ore (transport volume 500-1000 tons per hour). The impact resistance of the chain ring ensures that it will not break when a large piece of ore is blocked. With the tensioning device, it can achieve long-distance (more than 1000 meters) continuous transportation. It is the core power component of underground horizontal transportation.
Ore lifting operation: The lifting chain (20-50 tons) of the shaft hoist is connected to the ore bucket to lift 30-50 tons of ore from the underground to the ground. The chain is subjected to alternating loads during high-speed (lifting speed 6-10m/s) operation. Its fatigue resistance (no cracks after 1 million cycles) ensures the safety of lifting, and 30-50 lifting cycles can be completed every day and night.
Equipment lifting and relocation: During mine maintenance, 10-20 ton mining lifting chains are used to lift underground electric locomotives (15 tons) and crusher parts (8 tons). The chains can flexibly surround the equipment in narrow tunnels and achieve precise relocation with manual hoists. Its high strength characteristics are suitable for the complex stress conditions of temporary lifting in mines.
Open-pit mine operations: After the open-pit mine is blasted, 30-50 ton chains are used to bundle large rocks (20-40 tons), and the rocks are transported to the crushing station with excavators or cranes. The chains are resistant to sunlight exposure and rain erosion (outdoor service life is 3-5 years), meeting the all-weather operation needs of open-pit mines.
Q1: What is the core difference between mining chains and ordinary industrial chains?
A: Mining chains are made of higher-strength alloy steel, with more than 50% higher impact and wear resistance, and have special anti-corrosion treatment (to resist the acidic environment of mines); ordinary chains are low-strength and easily break due to wear and corrosion in mining environments, and their service life is only 1/3-1/5 of that of mining chains.
Q3: How to deal with the transmission chain jam?
A: Stop the machine immediately, check the jam position (mostly the scraper is deformed or the chain link is twisted), use a jack to push the chain open to release the tension, and it is strictly forbidden to force start (it will cause the chain link to break). Clean the stuck ore, correct the deformed scraper, replace the twisted chain link, and run it unloaded for 5 minutes to confirm that it is normal before continuing to work.
Q3: How to extend the life of the chain in the humid environment underground?
A: Add anti-corrosion treatment once a month (spray special mining anti-rust agent), maintain chain tension during operation (droop ≤ 2% span) to reduce friction, and regularly clean the sludge between chain links (to prevent accelerated wear). Replace the pin grease every six months, and use water-resistant grease (water runoff ≤ 5%) to prevent moisture from entering the pin and causing increased wear.
Q3: Is it necessary to replace the chain if local cracks appear?
A: Yes. Mining chains are subject to heavy loads and impacts. Even a 1mm tiny crack will expand rapidly under stress concentration (may break within 24 hours). According to safety regulations, the entire chain must be replaced immediately (cannot be spliced for use), and after replacement, a load test (1.1 times the rated load without abnormalities) is required before it can be put into use.
