NACM96 standard chain is a high-grade chain that complies with the standards of the National Association of Chain Manufacturers (NACM) of the United States. It has a rated load range of 3-15 tons and a safety factor of ≥4.5. It is designed for high-strength and high-frequency operation scenarios. The material is made of 20CrMnTi and other alloy structural steels. After precision hot forging, carburizing and quenching, the tensile strength reaches 96 levels (1100-1300MPa), which is more than 20% higher than NACM90. The chain ring diameter is 10-20mm, the pitch is 50-100mm, and it is suitable for heavy American lifting equipment. The surface is hot-dip galvanized (zinc layer ≥100μm) or nano-ceramic coating, and it is resistant to salt spray for ≥1500 hours. It is suitable for harsh environments such as ports and heavy manufacturing. Although the procurement cost is 25%-35% higher than NACM90, the service life is extended by 50% (6-9 years), which is more cost-effective in heavy-load and high-frequency scenarios.

Enlarged specifications, heavy-duty adaptation. The chain ring diameter is 10-20mm (8-16mm for NACM90), the pitch is 50-100mm, and the 15-ton 10-meter chain is about 35kg (about 25kg for 10-ton NACM90). It is suitable for heavy cranes, port cranes and other equipment. For example, the 120mm pitch chain can be precisely engaged with the 40-ton American crane, while the NACM90 cannot be adapted to heavy equipment over 10 tons due to specification restrictions.
Reinforced connection, safety redundancy. Equipped with a forged one-piece connection buckle (NACM90 is assembled), the breaking strength is consistent with the chain ring (≥1300MPa), and the connection time is ≤25 seconds (15% faster than NACM90). Double safety pins are added to prevent accidental detachment, which provides an extra safety guarantee than NACM90 in high-risk scenarios such as offshore lifting.
Upgraded protection, environmental tolerance. The nano-ceramic coating model is resistant to salt spray for ≥1500 hours (1000 hours for NACM90 hot-dip galvanizing), and can be used for a long time in the marine high salt spray environment. The high-temperature model can withstand 200℃ (100℃ for NACM90), suitable for lifting steel billets in metallurgical plants, and the maintenance cycle is extended to every 2 months (monthly for NACM90).
Heavy-duty loading and unloading at ports. Ports hoist 10-15 ton containers. NACM96 chains work with quay cranes to complete 80-100 hoists per day. Its high strength can withstand the impact load caused by the shaking of the ship, and its life is twice as long as NACM90 (reducing downtime and replacement time).
Heavy machinery manufacturing. Hoisting 12-ton machine tool beds. NACM96's high-precision chain rings (pitch error ≤0.5mm) ensure smooth hoisting, and work with heavy-duty overhead cranes to achieve 0.1mm-level positioning, while NACM90 is prone to slight deformation under heavy loads, affecting accuracy.
Marine engineering. Offshore platforms install 5-15 ton steel structures. Nano-ceramic coated chains resist seawater corrosion. After 1500 hours of salt spray testing, the performance decay is ≤5%. NACM90 shows obvious rust in 3 months under the same environment.
Q1: How to choose between NACM90 and NACM90?
A: Choose NACM96 (such as ports) when the average daily lifting frequency is greater than 15 times and the load is greater than 8 tons; choose NACM90 (such as factories) when the lifting frequency is low (≤15 times) and the load is less than 8 tons. The service life of NACM96 for 10-ton port equipment is 6 years, while that of NACM90 is only 4 years, with lower overall cost.
Q3: Precautions for use in high temperature environments?
A: Choose a high temperature model (200℃ tolerance), replace high temperature grease (dropping point ≥250℃) every quarter, and avoid using it in an environment above 300℃ (which will cause a 15% decrease in strength).
Q3: How to deal with loose connectors?
A: Stop the machine immediately, replace a new connector (not repairable), and check whether the adjacent chain links are damaged. The NACM96 connector is a one-time forging part, which is more difficult to repair than the NACM90 assembly type, but it is safer.
