US Type Forged Wire Rope Clips are a common connector for fixing wire ropes, with high strength and reliable fastening performance.
Structure and specifications: Usually composed of U-bolts, saddles and nuts. The specifications range widely, generally ranging from 1/8" to 3 1/2", which can adapt to wire ropes of different diameters to meet various engineering needs.
Manufacturing materials and processes: Made of high-strength steel and manufactured by die forging. This process makes the wire rope clip more uniform in texture, with a tight internal structure and excellent mechanical properties, and has higher strength and toughness than the casting process. Common materials are carbon steel and stainless steel. Carbon steel is usually hot-dip galvanized to improve corrosion and rust resistance.

Product features:
High strength and durability: The forging process gives it high strength and can withstand large tensile forces, making it suitable for high-intensity operations such as heavy lifting and traction. Hot-dip galvanizing or stainless steel materials give it good corrosion resistance and can be used in a variety of harsh environments.
Strong clamping force: The saddle is usually equipped with grooves inside to better fit the wire rope, provide stronger clamping force, reduce the risk of wire rope sliding, and ensure the reliability of the connection.
Compliance with standards: The design and production comply with relevant standards such as the US Federal Specification FF-C-450. The product quality and performance are guaranteed and can meet the safety and reliability requirements of various projects.
Application fields: widely used in mining machinery, metallurgical equipment, engineering hoisting machinery, aviation and marine, land transportation, power equipment and other fields. It is mainly used for temporary connection of wire rope, fixing of rear hand rope when wire rope is passed through pulley group, and fixing of wind rope head on grab bar.
Precautions for installation and use: During installation, it should be noted that the saddle should be placed on the main rope side of the wire rope, the U-shaped bolt should be placed at the end of the rope, and the nut should be tightened according to the specified torque. The number and spacing of wire rope clamps should be reasonably determined according to the diameter of the wire rope. Generally speaking, the larger the diameter of the wire rope, the more wire rope clamps are required, and the spacing should also be increased accordingly.
Q1: What is the difference between forging and casting rope clamps? How to choose?
The forging process makes the internal grains of the metal dense through high-temperature forging, and the strength is 30%-50% higher than that of the casting process. It has stronger impact resistance and deformation resistance, and is suitable for high-strength scenes such as lifting and ships; the casting process is prone to pores and cracks, and is only suitable for light loads (such as civil binding). If used for industrial-grade load-bearing (≥5 tons), forged rope clamps must be selected to avoid breakage due to material defects.
Q3: After installation, it is found that the rope clamp has slight deformation. Does it affect its use?
If the bending amount of the U-shaped bolt is ≤0.5mm, the saddle has no cracks, and the deformation does not cause loose fit with the wire rope, it can be used for a short period of time with a 20% load reduction, and inspections should be strengthened; if the deformation exceeds 1mm or cracks appear on the saddle, it means that the internal metal structure has been damaged and the load-bearing capacity has decreased by more than 50%. It needs to be replaced immediately, especially prohibited for high-altitude lifting scenes.
Q3: How big is the difference in service life between stainless steel forged rope clamps and carbon steel galvanized ones?
In dry indoor environment: carbon steel galvanized ones have a service life of about 3-5 years (galvanized layer intact), stainless steel (304) can reach more than 10 years;
In humid outdoor environment: carbon steel galvanized ones have a service life of 2-3 years (may be partially rusted), 304 stainless steel ones have a service life of 5-8 years;
In marine/chemical environment: carbon steel galvanized ones have a service life of 3-6 months (quickly rusted), 316 stainless steel ones have a service life of 5-10 years (resistance to salt spray corrosion).
It is recommended to choose according to the environmental corrosion level, and 316 stainless steel forged ones are preferred in high corrosion scenarios.
