Long Dee Shackle is a derivative of D-type shackle. It is named because the length of the bow ring is 20%-50% longer than that of the standard D-type shackle. The main body is a "long D" shaped closed loop structure, consisting of an integrally forged long bow ring, a pin shaft and an anti-slip device. The material is mainly carbon steel (hot-dip galvanized), 304 stainless steel, and 316 stainless steel. The rated working load is 0.3-100 tons, and the safety factor is ≥4.0. Its extended ring design can accommodate thicker wire ropes or multiple ropes passing through in parallel, which is suitable for scenes requiring large-diameter connections. It is widely used in lifting, ships, forestry and other fields that require the connection of thick rigging, balancing the load-bearing capacity and space compatibility.

Extended ring body, strong adaptability: The bow ring is longer than the standard D-type shackle, and can accommodate 2-3 wire ropes at the same time, without the need for additional adapters, which is suitable for multi-rope parallel connection scenarios (such as forestry logger tow ropes).
Integral forging, excellent strength: The overall forging process (no welding) is adopted, and the wall thickness of the long ring body is 10%-20% thicker than that of the standard D-type to avoid strength attenuation due to increased length. The breaking load of the 10-ton long D-type shackle is ≥60 tons (safety factor 6 times), and the bending resistance under vertical force is 25% higher than that of the standard D-type.
Reliable anti-loosening and convenient operation: The anti-loosening methods of the pin shaft include "nut + cotter pin" and "spring clamp ring". In a vibrating environment (such as truck transportation), the probability of the pin shaft falling off is ≤0.3%; the openings at both ends of the extended ring body are made into arc transitions (radius ≥3mm), which can reduce the wear of the rope when threading the rope, and the rope wear rate is reduced by 30% compared with the standard D-type shackle.
The material is corrosion-resistant and covers a wide range of scenarios: the zinc layer thickness of the carbon steel hot-dip galvanized model is ≥85μm, and the salt spray resistance test is ≥800 hours, which is suitable for dry inland areas; the 304 stainless steel model is resistant to atmospheric corrosion and is used for outdoor buildings (such as large billboard hoisting); the salt spray resistance of the 316 stainless steel model is 3 times that of 304, and the service life in the marine environment can reach more than 8 years.
Standard compatibility and good versatility: It complies with international general standards (such as some specifications are compatible with Crosby and JIS standards), the pin shaft size matches the standard lifting lugs and connectors, and can form a mixed connection system with ordinary D-type shackles, wire rope clamps, etc., without replacing other parts in the renovation project.
Forestry and Agriculture: Tow rope connection for loggers and skidders. Long D-type shackles can accommodate two 16mm forestry steel wire ropes passing in parallel. The extended ring body prevents the ropes from squeezing and abrading each other. Tow rope fixation for large agricultural machinery (such as harvesters). The carbon steel model is suitable for field mud and dust environment. The anti-slip design resists mechanical vibration.
Shipping and Marine Engineering: The trawl cable connection for offshore fishing vessels. The 316 stainless steel model resists seawater corrosion. The long ring body is suitable for 28mm thick trawl ropes. The mooring system of inland cargo ships. The long D-type shackle connects the anchor chain and the hull. The extended ring body facilitates quick threading and improves the efficiency of docking.
Heavy lifting and transportation: Heavy cargo bundling (such as steel and steel pipes) of large trucks, 10-30 ton long D-type shackles connect multiple bundling ropes to ensure uniform force; auxiliary lifting equipment of port cranes, accommodating thick diameter wire ropes (26-32mm), long rings are suitable for scenes with large spacing between lifting equipment ears.
Construction and infrastructure: Temporary traction of prefabricated beams in bridge construction, long D-type shackles connect traction ropes and beam body lifting ears, and lengthen the rings to avoid collision with the beam body; auxiliary lifting of wind turbine towers, 304 stainless steel models connect multiple stabilizing ropes, resistant to outdoor corrosion and easy to thread ropes.
Q1: Is there a difference in the load-bearing capacity between the long D-type shackle and the standard D-type shackle?
A: Under the same specifications (such as the same pin diameter), the rated working load of the long D-type shackle is the same as that of the standard D-type, but due to the lengthened ring body, the lateral load capacity is slightly lower (the standard D-type can withstand ±10° lateral force, and the long D-type is recommended to be ≤5°). The strength of the two is the same when subjected to vertical force. The selection is mainly based on the number and diameter of ropes, rather than simply pursuing the load difference.
Q3: Can the long D-type shackle be used instead of the bow shackle for multi-angle connection?
A: Not recommended. The long D-type shackle is essentially a D-type structure, which is only suitable for vertical or small angle (≤5°) force. Exceeding 10° will cause the ring body to bend and deform; the bow shackle can withstand ±35° lateral force. If multi-angle connection is required, the bow shackle should be selected first to avoid the long D-type from breaking due to excessive angles.
Q3: Will 304 stainless steel long D-type shackles rust when used in coastal areas?
A: Slight pitting will occur. In the high salt fog environment of coastal areas, the pitting resistance of 304 stainless steel is limited (usually rust spots appear in 1-2 years). If it needs to be used for a long time (more than 5 years), it is recommended to choose 316 stainless steel, or passivate the 304 model every 6 months (apply stainless steel protective agent) to extend the anti-rust cycle.
Q3: What should I do if the gap between the pin and the ring is too large and causes shaking?
A: The gap ≤0.5mm is the normal range. If it exceeds 1mm, it may be caused by wear or improper assembly. For slight shaking, a small amount of copper wire (thickness 0.2mm) can be wrapped around the pin to reduce the gap; for severe wear (gap ≥2mm), the pin needs to be replaced (same material, same specification), otherwise it will aggravate the wear of the ring and reduce the load-bearing capacity.
