US Type Dee Shackle is a D-type shackle that complies with US standards. It consists of an integrally forged D-shaped ring body, a pin shaft and an anti-loosening device. It is a core connector in the field of lifting and hoisting. The material is mainly high-strength carbon steel (4130 alloy steel), 304 stainless steel, and 316 stainless steel. The rated working load is 1-200 tons and the safety factor is ≥5.0. Its D-shaped ring is relatively wide, and the pin shaft adopts a coarse thread design. It is suitable for standard parts such as American lifting rings and wire rope slings. It is widely used in industrial scenarios that follow American standards in North America and around the world, such as oil drilling, heavy lifting, container transportation, etc., and is known for its high load-bearing capacity and convenient installation.

Strict American standards, high load limit: following the ASME B30.26 standard, it must pass a static load test of 2 times the rated load and a dynamic load test of 1.33 times the rated load, and the breaking load is more than 6 times the working load (100-ton shackle breaking load ≥ 600 tons), and is safer than European shackles under extreme working conditions (such as sudden overload).
Integral forging, strong impact resistance: The D-ring and pin shaft are all made of integral forging technology (no welding), and are tempered and heat treated (hardness HB220-260), with impact toughness ≥ 40J (at low temperature of -40℃), which is 40% higher than the impact resistance of the casting type, and is suitable for dynamic load scenarios (such as oil field drilling platform hoisting).
Reliable anti-loosening and efficient operation: The anti-loosening method of the pin shaft is mainly "nut + cotter pin", and some heavy-duty models use "bolt + self-locking nut". The probability of anti-loosening failure in high-frequency vibration environments (such as mining machinery) is ≤0.05%; the ends of the pin shafts are mostly round or hexagonal heads, suitable for fast loading and unloading with standard wrenches, and one person can complete the installation within 1 minute.
The material is corrosion-resistant and suitable for extreme environments: the carbon steel model is hot-dip galvanized (zinc layer thickness ≥100μm) or phosphating, and the salt spray resistance test is ≥1200 hours; the 316 stainless steel model PREN (pitting resistance equivalent) is ≥48, and the corrosion rate is ≤0.008mm/year in strong corrosion environments such as offshore oil platforms, and the life is 15%-20% longer than the European 316 model.
Wide structure, outstanding compatibility: The width of the D-shaped ring is 10%-15% wider than that of the European shackle (e.g. 50-ton American shackle is 120mm wide, while European shackle is about 105mm), and the thickness of the ring body is increased by 20%, which is compatible with large-diameter wire ropes (≥32mm) and American chains (e.g. G80 grade), and no adapter is required in heavy-duty connections.
Energy and heavy industry: Drill pipe hoisting of oil drilling platforms, suitable for 100-200 ton American D-type shackles, 4130 alloy carbon steel material to withstand high pressure environment underground; large equipment (such as scraper conveyors) in coal mines, coarse thread design of pin shafts for quick connection, improving underground operation efficiency.
Ships and ocean transportation: Container ship hoisting in North American ports, 50-ton shackles connect crane slings and container corner fittings, and the wide D-shaped ring structure is suitable for containers of different specifications; anchor chain fixing of ocean-going cargo ships, 316 stainless steel type resists seawater corrosion and ensures long-term navigation safety.
Infrastructure and lifting engineering: hoisting of prefabricated beams of highway bridges in the United States (such as 100-ton T-beams), the integral forged ring body withstands high-strength loads; large crane main arm connection, pin shaft anti-loosening design resists the impact force generated by the swing of the boom.
Special vehicles and logistics: Cargo securing of heavy trailers in North America, 20-30 ton shackles with chains to lock construction machinery, coarse threads are not easy to loosen under bumpy road conditions; rocket parts transportation in the aerospace field, high-precision American shackles (tolerance ≤ 0.05mm) to ensure stable lifting.
Q1: What is the core difference between American and European D-type shackles?
A: The American D-ring is wider and the pin has coarse threads (UNC standard), which is suitable for heavy and large-diameter connectors; the European style is more compact and has fine threads (metric standard), which is suitable for precision scenes. Under the same load, the American load limit is 10%-15% higher, but the weight is 20% heavier than the European style. It needs to be selected according to the "load-space-weight" requirements of the scene.
Q3: Can the pin continue to be used after the thread is stripped?
A: Absolutely prohibited. Thread stripping will cause the connection strength to drop by more than 60%. Even if it is not completely slipped, it may suddenly break when subjected to force. The pin of the same specification needs to be replaced as a whole (the material must be consistent with the ring body, such as 4130 carbon steel with 4130 pin), and the threaded hole of the ring body needs to be checked for wear (if worn, it needs to be scrapped as a whole).
Can 304 stainless steel be used in chemical parks (containing hydrogen sulfide)?
A: No. Hydrogen sulfide can cause stress corrosion cracking of 304 stainless steel, and it is necessary to replace it with 316L stainless steel (low carbon + molybdenum element), or use super duplex steel (such as 2507), and perform magnetic particle inspection every quarter to check for cracks.
Q6: How to properly store American D-type shackles?
A: Carbon steel models need to be coated with anti-rust oil and stored in a dry and ventilated place (humidity ≤ 60%) to avoid contact with acidic substances; stainless steel models need to be kept away from carbon steel parts (to prevent electrochemical corrosion), and wooden boards or plastic partitions can be used; long-term storage (≥ 6 months) requires regular rotation of the pin to prevent the thread from rusting and getting stuck.
