HMPE CHAFE GUARD PROTECTION ROPE is a high-performance rope designed for extreme abrasion environments, made of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (HMPE) and equipped with a special wear-resistant sheath. This combination provides an unparalleled strength-to-weight ratio (15 times stronger than steel cables but lighter weight), while effectively resisting friction, cutting and UV damage through the outer sheath. Suitable for long-term dynamic load scenarios such as ship mooring, towing, deep-sea operations and industrial heavy-duty applications, its low elongation and fatigue resistance ensure reliable performance under harsh conditions.
The special coating enhances the abrasion resistance and further helps reduce internal and external fiber damage accumulated by the core rope. Offer excellent chafe protection for the ropes.

Extreme Strength: HMPE fiber provides the world's highest strength-to-weight ratio (breaking strength can be up to 7 times that of steel cable).
Abrasion-resistant sheath: Double-layer structure, outer high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or polyurethane sheath resists friction/cutting.
Environmental damage resistance: UV resistance, seawater corrosion resistance, chemical resistance (oil, acid, etc.).
Zero water absorption & floating: 100% waterproof and density <1, permanently floating on the water.
Operation-friendly: Lightweight (87% lighter than the same grade of steel cable), flexible and easy to coil.
Marine engineering: FPSO dynamic mooring, ROV umbilical protection, deep-sea anchor cable.
Ship operations: tugboat main towline, high-value ship fender anti-friction rope.
Industrial heavy load: crane anti-sway rope, mine towing rope, helicopter rescue rope.
Special fields: polar exploration equipment, spacecraft landing buffer rope.
Q1: Does sheath damage affect core strength?
A: The sheath is mainly for wear prevention, and the core HMPE still maintains strength, but the sheath needs to be repaired in time to avoid fiber exposure.
Q3: How big is the price difference compared with ordinary HMPE rope?
A: The sheathed version is 30-50% more expensive, but the life span can be extended by 3-5 times, and the overall cost is lower.
Q3: Can it be used in high temperature environments?
A: The upper temperature limit is about 80°C, and it can withstand 100°C for a short time. If it exceeds this, aramid mixed rope needs to be used instead.
Q3: How to detect internal fiber damage?
A: Regular X-ray or ultrasonic testing, visual inspection of sheath dents/deformations (may indicate internal fractures).
Q3: Does the fading of the sheath color mean aging?
A: Not necessarily, HMPE itself is UV-resistant, but severe fading + hardening requires replacement.
Pro Tips:
When cutting, use a hot knife to seal the rope end to prevent loose threads
Avoid direct contact with sharp corners of rough metal and use a dedicated fairlead
Keep dry when storing and away from ozone sources (such as motors)
