The 25th Annual Meeting of the International Organization for Standardization Technical Committee for Steel Wire Ropes (ISO/TC105 "Steel Wire Ropes") and its working group meetings were successfully held in Frankfurt, Germany, from October 13 to 14, 2025. The meeting, conducted in a combination of in-person and online formats, brought together 17 expert representatives from China, Germany, the United States, Japan, and other countries for in-depth review and discussion of several key international standards for wire ropes, aiming to promote the coordinated development of global wire rope technology, safety, and trade.

As the world's most authoritative international standards-setting body for wire ropes, the outcomes of ISO/TC105 meetings directly impact the safety and efficiency of many key industries worldwide, including lifting, mining, shipping, elevators, and engineering construction. The core agenda of the Frankfurt meeting covered the revision and development of several important international standards, including technical consultations on draft standards such as "Safety Specification and Inspection Procedure for Wire Rope Slings." During the conference, experts from various countries exchanged views on topics such as wire rope terminology, technical requirements, testing methods, and safe use regulations, aiming to establish a more unified and scientific technical language and safety benchmark globally.

Notably, the Chinese delegation demonstrated active participation and technical expertise at this conference. A team of experts, comprised of leading domestic companies and institutions such as the Metallurgical Industry Information Standards Research Institute and Fasten Hongsheng Group, provided constructive feedback on a number of topics, demonstrating China's growing international influence in wire rope manufacturing and technical standards. The Chinese delegation's remarks were not only based on extensive domestic industry practices but also met the urgent global market demand for high-quality, high-safety wire rope products, injecting valuable "Chinese wisdom" into the improvement of relevant international standards.

The successful convening of this annual conference has laid a solid foundation for the future update and release of a series of international standards for wire ropes, heralding a path for the global wire rope industry to become safer, more efficient, and more standardized. The outcomes of the conference will further promote the deep integration and healthy development of the global wire rope industry chain.
